- Lot Description
A mid 19th century Folk Art oil on canvas attributed to the Prior/Hamblin School, New England. Portrait of a young woman depicted in half-length, seated on a chair framed by tasseled drapery, holding a floral spray in her left hand, an open window at the side shows a landscape, swimming swans, and a country estate in the distance. Unsigned. Canvas is loose and rippling in two areas; some craquelure. Two minor holes at the right; flecked paint loss at the left side. Her hand has likely been touched up, and other areas. Image 21 7/8 x 27", in a mahogany ogee frame of the period, 30 1/2 x 35 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $6,000-8,000
