A 19th century English Burl Walnut four-bottle Tantalus set. Burl walnut veneer square case with hinged lid opening to fitted interior with blue velvet lining and four glass bottles, flanked by brass handles. The lock inscribed "J. T. Needs, 128 Piccadilly/Late J. Bramah, Piccadilly" indicating after 1871. Fabric lining is worn. Three bottles are matching and have minor nicks to the stoppers and corner; the fourth bottle is very similar but slightly shorter than the others and has a wider collar. The veneer is chipped in three corners, and the lid has a horizontal crack extending around a corner approximately 9", and approximately 4" around the opposite corner. 9 1/2 x 9 3/4 x 11" high.
