A 19th century American School Oil on Canvas. Half-length portrait of a young woman with brunette hair in ringlets, wearing a necklace and brooch, standing with her left hand resting on an open book, a black lace shawl draped behind her. No apparent signature. Circa 1840. Original canvas with craquelure overall and stretcher marks. Image 10 x 12", framed 14 3/4 x 16 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $400-600
