Vintage 1964 Polish Movie Poster, "Oklahoma!". Polish movie poster for Oklahoma, where the wind goes sweepin' down the plain. Framed.
Oklahoma! is a landmark 1943 American musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. Set in the early 1900s in the Oklahoma Territory, the story revolves around the romance between the spirited farm girl Laurey Williams and the charming cowboy Curly McLain, set against the backdrop of conflict between farmers and cowboys. The musical explores themes of love, rivalry, and the struggle for statehood, all infused with a sense of optimism and a growing sense of community. With iconic songs such as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "People Will Say We're in Love," and the rousing title song "Oklahoma!," the musical revolutionized Broadway by integrating music, lyrics, and plot in a way that had not been done before, making it a quintessential piece of American musical theater.
