Vincent Vegt was born in The Hague in the Netherlands in 1927. After World War II he attended the College of Fine Arts in Leiden for several years before spending nearly a decade exploring the rest of Europe, painting many seascapes, harbor scenes, and studies of boats in different aspects of light. He returned to the Netherlands in the mid 1950s and eventually settled back in his hometown, where he continued to paint scenic views as well as the occasional still life and interior landscape until his death in 2001.
