Depicting a female figure in blue robes and a black hood.

Artist Biography:
Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) was a prolific and highly successful Japanese ukiyo-e artist, renowned for his vibrant and dynamic woodblock prints. Born in Edo (modern-day Tokyo), he studied under the master Toyokuni I and later became a leading figure in the Utagawa school. Kunisada's works primarily depicted kabuki actors, beautiful women, and scenes from Japanese literature, characterized by their rich colors, intricate details, and expressive compositions. He was immensely popular during his lifetime, producing thousands of prints that captured the spirit of Edo period entertainment and culture. Despite his commercial success, Kunisada's contributions were often overshadowed by his contemporaries, but his reputation has grown over time, earning him recognition as one of the most important ukiyo-e artists.Condition
