The Vendorlator Manufacturing Company was founded in the 1920s in Fresno, California, and specialized in producing vending machines for beverages, particularly soda and beer. They were the first company to distribute both Coca-Cola and Pepsi products, rather than specializing in either. During World War II they devoted more than half of their production capacity to making military equipment, focusing mainly on metal products and storage. In 1948 they acquired the Pinedale Industrial Area, a 26 acre site that allowed them to have greater vertical integration of their manufacturing process. In 1956 they were acquired by their largest rival, the Vendo Company in Kansas City, Missouri, who moved more and more of their operations to California over the years, eventually closing their facility in Missouri. Today Vendorlator pieces are rare and highly sought after by collectors for their important place in the history of the Vending Machine Wars.
