THE LITTLE SHOWMAN'S SERIES: "The Snake Charmer". Published by McLoughlin Bros, N Y. Fair Board book with a single page including a three-tier color pop-up scene. RARE c.1890. Two free-standing paper panels as well as a background panel depicting two children and their mother standing in front of a stage. A female snake charmer and numerous snakes are at the nearest part of the stage while an African warrior in feathers, brandishing shield and spear, is at the back. This 3-D illustration book is one of ten titles from the McLoughlin Bros. 1880 published little showman's series where each book features animals not often seen by the children of the day. All books in this series are exceptionally scarce in any condition and are highly prized by the children's/ McLoughlin bros. book collector. Size: 11 x 8 inches.
