- Lot Description
The sculpture is a representation of the Buddha, specifically emphasizing the moment of his enlightenment through the Bhumisparsha Mudra. The style and details suggest it is a Buddhist devotional object. Bhumisparsha" translates to "earth touching". It depicts the Buddha's right hand reaching down to touch the Earth, while his left hand rests on his lap in meditation. All antiquities were purchased at Artemis Gallery with COA.
