Steven O'Donnell Scott was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1938. Scott has spent most of his life traveling and living in the western United States. At a young age his family took him to California where they lived and traveled the length of the Golden State. They eventually settled in Dallas, Texas, where Scott enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school. After his service he was discharged in San Diego, where he chose to attend Santa Monica College and then the Chouinard Art Institute on the GI Bill. During this time he became influenced and inspired by the artwork of Frank Hamilton and Rex Brandt. Scott settled in Escondido to work as an architectural illustrator. Throughout his 25 year illustration career Scott painted Western subject matter on a part-time basis until he could focus on it fully after retiring. His work earned him the opportunity to display in the Royal Western Watercolor Society Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and at President Nixon’s Western White House. Scott's works have been in numerous public and private collections, and he has won Gold and Silver awards at the famous Phippen Memorial Museum Western Art Shows in Prescott, Arizona. He currently resides in California with his wife, Jean and their children, where he continues to make his art, always growing and experimenting with his realistic Impressionist style.
