Reuge Hand-Cranked Wooden Music Box. Swiss hand-cranked music box by Reuge with lacquered wood body. Plays three movements of Mozart's 'Nachtmusik' (Night Music). Numbered CH 3/72, 37218.
Mozart’s "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" (Serenade No. 13 in G major, K. 525) is one of his most famous and beloved compositions, written in 1787. The title translates to "A Little Night Music," and the piece is a light, elegant serenade typically performed by a small string ensemble. Consisting of four movements, it is celebrated for its lively and graceful melodies, particularly the first movement, which is instantly recognizable. Though originally intended as background music for social gatherings, Eine kleine Nachtmusik has become a staple of classical repertoire.
