- Lot Description
Pierre Bellier (Born 1936) French, Signed and Numbered Serigraph. Title: "Saint Tropez." Depicts the vibrant French Mediterranean seaside commune. Signed in pen bottom right. Numbered 21/600 in pencil bottom left.
Overall: 26 x 32 1/2 in.
Sight: 17 1/2 x 24 in.

Pierre Bellier was born in 1936 in Paris, France. As a youth he witnessed the horrors of the Nazis first-hand, and was drawn to mathematics and sketching as an escape from them. He studied drawing and painting at Atelier Corlin in Paris, and enrolled at the School of the Applied Arts in the 1950s where he obtained a diploma to become an interior decorator. In 1960 he worked with Marc Chagall and Fernand Leger in the restoration of the stained glass of the Vault of the Plate of ESA (High Savoy). His first solo exhibition was in 1973, and since then he has been represented by galleries around the world and worked as an artist in residence at Parisian schools, hotels, and cruise lines, with his pieces found in many corporate and private collections in Europe and the United States.
