Pair of Chinese Signed Ceramics of Mythological Fu-Xing. Larger comes with a base. Figures are standing while holding a child and dressed in a turquoise floral-pattern robe.
In Chinese culture, Fu-Xing (or Fuxing), one of the Three Star Gods, represents happiness, good fortune, and prosperity. He is often depicted holding a child in sculptures as a symbol of continuity, fertility, and the blessing of future generations. The child signifies the continuation of the family line, as having children, especially male children, was historically seen as vital for family heritage. This representation conveys the hope for healthy offspring, ensuring that the family line and its prosperity are preserved for the future.
The child in Fu-Xing’s embrace also embodies the passing on of wealth and happiness to future generations.
