Oscar Rodríguez Lasseria (Born 1950) Cuban, Mixed Media. A symbolic composition of a human-faced bird with a radiant halo. Signed and dated Lasseria 2013, lower right. Attributed verso. Framed.
Overall Size: 28 x 21 1/2 in.
Sight Size: 21 1/4 x 15 1/4 in.
Oscar Rodriguez Lasseria, born in 1950, of Camagüey is an extremely versatile artist who is recognized worldwide. He graduated from the Academia Interamericana de Dibujo y Pintura in the USA and continued his education at the art academies in Camagüey and Havana. He has been working in his own studios in Camagüey for many years. Besides painting, ceramics is his great passion. But he also makes sculptures and complete furnishings in the style of a total work of art, for example for the bar El Cambio or the hotel Isla de Cuba. The Afro-Cuban influence is unmistakable in his work. Myths, poetry, eroticism are combined in his work to a whole. A great artist, one who has had a major influence on Cuban art in recent years!
