Nicolas de Launay (1739-1792) French, print of an engraving, titled La Bonne Mare. Depicting a young mother surrounded by her children as they rest in a garden.
Condition: Stain on back in lower left corner. Nail sticking out of frame on left side.
Overall Size: 11 1/8 x 15 1/8 in.
Sight Size: 7 3/4 x 10 1/2 in.

Nicolas de Launay (1739-1792) was a distinguished French engraver renowned for his intricate and refined works during the Rococo period. Born in Paris, de Launay became a master of the burin technique, producing engravings that captured the delicate elegance and playful themes characteristic of the era. He collaborated with prominent artists such as François Boucher and Jean-Honoré Fragonard, translating their paintings and designs into detailed prints that were highly sought after by collectors and art lovers. De Launay's engravings not only exemplified the artistic tastes of 18th-century France but also played a significant role in disseminating the works of leading Rococo painters to a broader audience.
