Natalie Spring was born in 1988 in San Francisco, California. She began exploring art when she was five, escaping into her own world when making her drawings, mainly of horses. A quiet, shy person, she decided in her early 20s to focus solely on art, and discovered Creativity Explored, a nonprofit art gallery and professional working studio created in 1983 by disability pioneers Florence Ludins-Katz and Dr. Elias Katz. The accessible space for adult artists with developmental disabilities allows those who want to work in a group but without loud distractions a safe place, and has become the template for similar organizations around the world. Although her passion is primarily horses, Natalie also draws cats, dogs, donkeys, birds, giraffes, elephants, cheetahs, lions, tigers, and any animal that catches her eye and inspires her. Recently, Natalie has also expanded to making wire sculptures of horses, and devotes part of her time to working with other disabled artists to help them explore their own passion and creativity.
