Michael Cheval (20th/21st Century) American, Print on Aluminum. Titled "Imagine II". 2016. Signed in lower right corner.
Depicts a fantastical scene set in a lush, enchanted forest. A man in a red and gold costume is seated on a stone bench, playing a musical instrument. A woman, dressed in a zebra-striped outfit, lies on the ground at his feet, apparently entranced by the music. In the background, a small figure can be seen standing on a hill, observing the scene.
Michael Cheval (20th/21st Century) is known for Painting, paintings as a puzzle for the viewer. Michael Cheval is a contemporary artist known for his “Absurdist” paintings, drawings, and portraits that capture the imagination by turning reality on its head. Cheval presents his ingenious artwork as a puzzle. He invites the viewer to solve the hidden meaning behind his art by using clues within the artwork’s title and imagery.
Cheval has won numerous awards for his art including Best of Worldwide Oil Artists by Kennedy Publishing in 2009. He is a member of the prestigious National Arts Club in New York City and the internationally-acclaimed Society of Art and Imagination in London.
