Martyn Brewster (born 1952 in Oxford) is a British artist renowned for his abstract paintings, drawings, and prints that draw inspiration from the coastal landscapes of Dorset, where he has resided since 1990. He pursued his art education at Brighton Polytechnic, earning a BA in Fine Art (Painting) in 1974, followed by a Postgraduate Printmaking Diploma in 1975. Brewster's work is characterized by a vibrant palette and dynamic compositions, reflecting his deep engagement with the English landscape tradition and the expressive potential of color. Throughout his career, he has exhibited widely, with notable retrospectives at the Russell–Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in 1997 and the Royal West of England Academy in 2001. His artworks are held in prestigious public collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Museum. In addition to his artistic practice, Brewster has contributed to art education as a part-time lecturer at institutions such as Winchester School of Art and Arts University Bournemouth.
