Born Frederick Austerlitz in Omaha, Nebraska, Astaire began performing with his sister, Adele, in vaudeville as a child. After she retired, he went on to conquer Broadway and then Hollywood, starring in films like *Top Hat* (1935) and *Swing Time* (1936) with his famous dance partner Ginger Rogers. Astaire’s innovative blend of tap, ballroom, and ballet, paired with his effortless elegance, set new standards in dance on film. Known for his meticulous approach to choreography, he worked closely with choreographers and directors to create seamless routines that showcased his artistry. Astaire’s career spanned over 75 years, and his influence on dance and film remains indelible, inspiring generations of dancers and performers worldwide.
