Kathleen Cantin was born in Vermont in 1951. She spent her youth traveling back and forth between Vermont and New Hampshire, heavily inspired by the beauty of the natural landscape, and attended the University of New Hampshire to study art. While in her sophomore year she enrolled in a class on etching and became instantly hooked, exploring printmaking and ways of improving the medium. She began attending art festivals and exhibitions around New England, winning awards and obtaining commissions from Harvard University, the Franklin Mint, and the Graphics Society Collector’s Guild. Her works are now on display at the Smithsonian Institute and numerous galleries as well as in private collections around the United States. In the early 1990s she held a one-woman exhibit in North Carolina that led her to fall in love with the tranquil landscape and move there permanently, and she continues to make original etchings as well as offer lectures and classes on her techniques out of her studio.
