- Lot Description
Joan Miro (1893 - 1983) Spanish, Lithograph Titled "Oda a Joan Miro" Signed in lower right. Numbered in lower left. Abstract lithograph with thick black lines. Bright colors contrast the darkness making the colors pop more. Lithograph in color on Guarro paper. Signed in pencil on lower right. Numbered in Roman numerals in lower left, 3/25. Created in 1973. Couple of small scratches on bottom of frame. Joan Miro (1893 - 1983) was active/lived in Spain, France and is known for Abstract curvilinear design painting, collage, mural. Miro responded to a wide range of stimuli throughout his long, productive life; he began creating the multicolor etchings and lithographs for which he is renowned, in 1947. Although he had been making original prints since the late 1920's, especially in coordination with writers and as part of various Surrealist projects, it was after World War II that he turned to the graphic media in earnest. A Miro print, whether from 1947 or 1981, speaks, sings, and dances with the same energy as his paintings. Overall size: 52 x 41 in. Image size: 38 x 26 1/2 in.
