- Lot Description
Jef Louis Van Leemputten (1865-1948) Belgium, Oil on Canvas. Signed in the lower right. Landscape painting with multiple sheep, a woman behind them, and water and trees to the left. Painting does appear to be in relined condition.
Overall Size: 28 x 32 3/4 in.
Sight Size: 14 3/4 x 19 1/4 in.
#6322 .Jef Leemputten is known for sheep, horses, birds, and other animals in landscape painting. He was born in Werchter, Belgium. This Belgian artist worked in a meticulously “Realist” style- specialising in the depiction of birds and rustic scenes. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Van Leemputten and pupil of Charles Verlat. Various exhibitions have been held of his works in the USA, Europe, England and the United Kingdom. An exhibition in New York on 26th February 1997 sold an 1896 painting by this artist.

Painting does appear to be in relined condition.
