- Lot Description
Iris Daniels (1959-2024) German/American, 2 Christmas Miniatures Oil on Paper.
Matching frames. One shows a group of Santas with sacks standing beside a frozen lake with snow falling around them, wreathed with greenery and multi-colored stars and balls, and signed lower right. The other depicts two mice holding hands and dancing in the falling snow with trees and white-capped buildings in the distance, surrounded by a heart-shaped pine wreath. Both frames have labels on the back for the artist's shop in Sarasota, Florida.
Condition: Good. Frame on the Santa painting slightly loose.
Overall: (both) 4 3/4 X 3 3/4 in.
Sight: (both) 3 1/2 X 2 1/2 in.
Iris Baranski-Daniels was born April 15th, 1959 in Berlin, Germany, becoming a talented miniature painter before eventually immigrating to the United States and settling in Sarasota, Florida. She was renowned for her intricate paintings, postcards, and jewelry that bore her signature style, and was an active and beloved figure in the local art scene of her hometown as well as her adopted community. Her work was showcased in exhibitions throughout Germany as well as the Suncoast alongside other prominent artists. She passed away on August 4th, 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy celebrated by her peers and patrons.
