- Lot Description
In 1882 The Palmer Mansion began construction in. Before being torn down in 1950 parts of the historic pieces were sold off including this item. This marvelous wood carving was viewable towards the ceiling above the book cases in the library. It was then transported to Florida and installed an hour north of our establishment. In a small roundabout way the item is back in Sarasota where Bertha Palmer had bough 350 acres in 1910. Her legacy still lives on with the Sunken Garden, Duchene Lawn and Jungle Walk. One of our local largest developments are now called Palmer Ranch. This beautiful carving is now available today. Own a piece of history or incorporate it into the next big design!
This 15 Foot Carving has exceptional detail of Cherubs, Sculls, and Floral Decor of the Gilded Age. You can see in the images the intricately carved figural frieze above the bookcases in the Potter Palmer Library, his most expensive room in the estate. It was the most impressive and elaborate additions to the mansion.
