Gototei Kunisada, better known as Utagawa Kunisada (1786–1865), was a leading ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, celebrated for his prolific output and popularity. He excelled in bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) and yakusha-e (actor prints), capturing the elegance and drama of his subjects with a vibrant and dynamic style. Kunisada's works are notable for their bold use of color and intricate details, which vividly depicted the fashion and culture of Edo-era Japan. He was a pupil of Utagawa Toyokuni and eventually adopted the name Toyokuni III. Despite being somewhat overlooked by Western art historians, Kunisada's work was highly influential and commercially successful during his lifetime. - Shipping Info
