Cohn-Stone Studios is a producer of hand blown art glass in Richmond, California, not far from San Francisco. Michael Cohn (born 1949), who had obtained his bachelors from the University of California in 1971 followed by a masters in glass art from Long Beach City College, began teaching courses at the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, where he first met Molly Stone (born 1950). Stone, who had studied at the University of California-Berkeley and the Columbus College of Art and Design before spending four years working at the Orrefors Glassworks in Sweden, arrived at Pilchuck in the late 1970s. After she received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1981 and he received one himself in both 1977 and 1984, the two began to look into creating a studio together. In the mid 1990s they joined forces, still working on individual projects from time to time but consistently collaborating on glass art ever since. Their works are both on permanent display at the Corning Glass Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, and a large-scale exhibition in the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
