- Lot Description
Georges Noel (1924 - 2010) Size: 28.5 x 23.5 inches. Oil/Canvas.Painting with Paris 'Salon Des Independants 1970' Exhibition label verso. In 1955, his artistic career began to flourish after Noël moved to Paris. As it continued to accelerate he moved to the United States. In the 1950s through 2000, he worked on canvases and hand-made papers. During the German occupation Noël was enngaged in the underground and was a draftsman-designer for aerospace company. Noël was unable return to Paris until Christmas 1956. Once in Paris, Noël devoted himself entirely to painting. In 1969, Noël was a professor at the Minneapolis School of Art. He then moved to New York from 1969-1983. In 1983, Noël returned to Paris.The artwork of Georges Noël has been exhibited internationally and is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Bibliothèque Nationale and F.N.A.C. in Paris, and the National galerie in Berlin.
