- Lot Description
François Pierre Bernard Barry (1813 - 1905) harbor scene with boats and figures throughout. Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. Sight size: 12 x 15 inches. François Pierre Barry studied painting at the Art School of Marseille with Augustin Aubert, then in Paris in 1840 in the workshop of Theodore Gudin. Barry's harbor views, including Marseille, were very successful. The artist accompanied Prince Napoleon in Egypt in 1862 and carried out many orientalist scenes.
