Framed Antique Korean Calligraphy. It is a phonetic syllabic script known as Hangul which was created to replace Chinese script in the 15th century by scholars working with the Korean Emperor, and designed to promote literacy among the common people. This fits well with the purpose of Christian missionaries seeking converts. This is almost certainly not a poem but a translation of scripture or other Christian texts, as is suggested by the cross in the upper right. Image size: 25 x 12 in. Overall Size: 35.25 x 18 in. This item is framed behind glass.
