Endre Peter Darvas (American b. 1946) Impressionist Oil on Canvas. Signed lower left.
Utilizing bold, spontaneous strokes with a mastery of color, light and texture Peter’s canvases are alive with reality and expression yet never appear belabored or meticulous. Darvas works with watercolor, acrylics, serigraphs, and also sculpts. However, his recent dedication is to the magnificent large oil canvases reflective of his Southwestern artistic heritage and frequent visits to Mexico as well as trips to the Caribbean islands and the Mediterranean coast. His career as a professional artist spans some forty years beginning with his first one man show at age 16. Since then, Darvas has had 90 major exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. He has been featured in Southwest Art, Artists of the Rockies and The Tahoe Quarterly magazines and is included in the book Contemporary Western Artists and Marquis Who’s Who in America. Although Darvas holds a degree in fine art from the University of Texas at Austin he received most of his training living in Taos, New Mexico for 10 years, traveling the Southwest, and being a part of its rich artistic ambiance.
