Proceeds from this sale will benefit students at the Ringling College of Art & Design.

Duílio Juliel Galli was born in São Carlos, a town near São Paulo, Brazil in 1930. He was well known throughout his life as a master engraver and sculptor. Between 1966 and 1970, he was influenced by Rubem Ruy, Cássio M’Boy (1903-1986) and Tarsila do Amaral (1886-1973), and held his first solo exhibition at the KLM Gallery, São Paulo. He participated in the São Paulo Salon of Modern Art, where he received an Honorable Mention in 1967 and a Bronze Medal in 1968. In the 1970s he organized the Ibitinga Municipal Museum and became one of the leaders of the Ecological Art and Thought group, formed by a core group of young Brazilian artists and intellectuals. In 1981, he traveled to several countries to work, including Chile, Tahiti, Hawaii, Japan, India, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Italy and Portugal. Between 1984 and 1990 he made frequent trips to New York, which exposed his work to an American audience. In 1987 he performed a Stations of the Cross for the Main Church of Ibitinga. He passed away in 2016 in Ibitinga, Brazil.
