Deborah St. Clair Robinson was born in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1939. She studied at DePauw University before finishing her bachelors at the University of Colorado, where she met and married her husband Keith with whom she had three children. They moved to Princeville, Kauai in the Hawaiian islands for his work, and while there Robinson became inspired by the landscape and the colors of the island paradise. Teaching herself to paint in oils and watercolors, she quickly began selling her works to tourists and became a Signature Member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society. Her private commissions of playing children eventually led to corporate commissions as well which can be found in hotels, hospitals, cruise ships, and corporate headquarters around the world. Today she and her family divide their time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and San Carlos, Mexico, and the largest public display of her work can be seen in the collection of The Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts.
