David Roberts (Scotland, 1796-1854) Lithograph, Water Wheel in Nubia. Lithograph reproduction based on the original 1830s watercolor study of a Persian water wheel in Nubia, used to draw water from the Nile.

David Roberts (1796–1864) was a Scottish painter and lithographer, best known for his detailed architectural and landscape scenes, particularly of the Middle East and Europe. Initially working as a scenic painter for theaters, Roberts transitioned to fine art and became renowned for his grand, meticulously detailed depictions of historical and exotic locations. His most famous work came from his travels to Egypt and the Holy Land in the 1830s, where he captured iconic landmarks like the pyramids and Jerusalem. His illustrations were later published as highly popular lithographs. Roberts' work combined artistic skill with historical documentation, earning him acclaim in both Britain and abroad. - Shipping Info
