Artist Biography: Claude Cambour, born in Normandy, France in 1940, was immersed in an artistic environment from a young age, with his grandfather's close association with renowned painter Maurice de Vlaminck. Living in various regions of France, Cambour honed his skills under artist Maurice Martin's guidance, eventually developing a style reminiscent of modern impressionism. Using a technique of dotting colors to evoke shapes, distances, tones, and textures, Cambour's vibrant palette spans the chromatic spectrum, ranging from reds to blues to violets, greens, and yellows. His compositions, often depicting familiar landscapes painted by Monet, Renoir, and Sisley, carry his unique interpretations: lush gardens, graceful willows, drifting petals, and reflective ponds, all aiming to capture nature's intrinsic beauty. With nearly one hundred canvases exhibited internationally, including in Giverny, England, the United States, and Japan, Cambour continues to seek inspiration from historic sites like Monet's garden, perpetuating the legacy of the early impressionists.
