As American Realism swept through the country in the early 20th Century, painters, writers, and journalists were compelled to capture the growing urbanization modern of life. Enclaves such as the Chinese population of San Francisco were introduced to this new wave and incorporated it into their works, resulting in colorful, detailed paintings like this one.
