Sight Size: 8 1/4 x 10 3/8 in. #5734 While he wasn’t a household name, he entertained both children and adults alike for decades, drawing some of the most recognizable figures in the history of animation. And by the time Reuben Timmins (1910-1984) (also spelled as Timmons) stopped drawing, he had helped bring to life some of the most beloved cartoon characters during the Golden Age of Animation. With the Fleisher brothers he worked on Betty Boop. At Disney, Donald Duck and Goofy got to know his talents. At Hanna-Barbera he worked on 'Tom & Jerry as well as with Mr. Magoo and a Panther who was pink. At Warners he worked with joy on their most famous character, a rabbit named Bugs. Think about that for a minute. Disney. Hannah-Barbera – Bugs Bunny - the giants. He’s worked with them all- from Mighty Mouse to Mickey Mouse, but none perhaps bigger than his time when he forged a relationship with Charles Schulz and the Peanuts gang. With Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy he created true magic and history with 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' (1965) and 'Charlie Brown's All Stars' (1966). Masterworks by the hand of a master in the medium. A man that both Walt Disney and Charles Schulz trusted with their creations– yes because he could draw great characters, but also because he had great character. At Sarasota Estate Auction, we are proud to present seven of his most lovable, original and rare sketches drawn by his own hand of historic and iconic characters he helped create during his time working with a boy named Charlie Brown. Both the Peanuts Christmas masterpiece and baseball classic, have been seen and loved by generations of Americans while becoming part of our American heritage. A truly rare opportunity to make these one of a kind pieces of art - your own. But more than that - a once in a lifetime chance, to hand down and share any one of these personal hand drawn images down to members of your own family, so that they can enjoy and appreciate these American treasures for generations to come. These spectacular preliminary sketches are entrusted to us by his great niece and through the estate of Mr. Reuben Timmins.
