Artist Biography:
Adriaen van Ostade (1610–1685) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, etcher, and draftsman known for his genre scenes depicting the everyday life of peasants and common folk. Born in Haarlem, he was a student of Frans Hals and influenced by the works of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Van Ostade's art is characterized by its detailed, lively portrayals of rustic interiors and tavern scenes, often filled with humor and a keen observation of character. His use of warm, earthy tones and skillful chiaroscuro brought a unique atmosphere to his works. A prolific artist, van Ostade also produced numerous etchings, contributing significantly to the Dutch Golden Age's rich tradition of genre painting. - Shipping Info
