- Lot Description
(6) Vintage Hood Ornaments. Lot comprised of six vintage Pontiac hood ornaments in various different tyles.
Pontiac hood ornaments, particularly the iconic illuminated Chief Pontiac mascots, were a defining feature of the brand’s vehicles from the 1930s through the 1950s. Often crafted from chrome and translucent amber-colored plastic, these ornaments depicted a stylized Native American chief, symbolizing speed, strength, and heritage. The most famous versions, introduced in the late 1940s, featured internal lighting, giving them a distinctive glow at night. As automotive design shifted toward sleeker, less ornamented styles in the 1960s, these mascots were phased out, but they remain highly collectible today, cherished as emblems of Pontiac’s rich history.
