Three piece Arukan Japanese bag set. Comes with tissue holder and change holder.
Largest Size: 11 1/2 x 6 x 14 1/2 in.
#2521 #5 .The 1920s in Japan were a tumultuous time, from the Influenza Epidemic brought back to the country after their involvement in World War I, to the Great Kanto Earthquake that decimated the entire country, to the abrupt death of Emperor Taisho in 1926 from a combination of pneumonia and heart attack at the age of 47. In 1928 the Arukan company was formed to craft artisan clothing and accompaniments, and still creates specialized items for a variety of shops.
These particular pieces come from the luxury haberdashery Izawaya, founded in Kyoto in 1865, the first year of the extremely brief Keio Era.
