(3) Collection of Mary Rose Young Ceramics. Whimsical and colorful pieces with flowers and leaves.
Size: 9 x 6 x 7 3/4 in.
#6283Mary Rose, based in the Forest of Dean, creates vibrant, humorous art. After art college, she returned to the Forest, selling her work at a Bristol market. Her unique, colorful style gained attention, leading to a successful Crafts Council Show in London in 1982, and significant demand from American department stores.
By 1990, she had a team of six, supplying galleries globally. Her work, known for its charm and color, attracted celebrity fans. She decorated her home in her signature style, attracting interior design features.
She married musician Phil Butcher in 1996, who later became housebound due to a brain aneurysm in 1999. Rose continued her artistic pursuits.
Her creative projects expanded to include decorated lavatories, pottery ranges for other companies, furniture, whimsical landscape paintings, and unique light fixtures, including chandeliers.
The 2019 lockdown and Brexit in 2020 impacted her business, leading her to work independently with her brother, James. She continues to create, sell globally, and showcase her work and home in the press. She also offers a self-catering holiday home, decorated in her style.
