Sight Size: 6 x 8 in.Knox Martin (1923–2022) was an American painter, sculptor, and muralist known for his bold, abstract compositions that combined elements of Pop Art, Color Field painting, and geometric abstraction. A key figure in the New York art scene, he gained recognition in the 1950s alongside artists like Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline. Martin’s large-scale public murals, such as Woman with Bicycle in New York City, showcased his dynamic use of color, form, and movement. As a longtime educator at the Art Students League, he influenced generations of artists, leaving a lasting impact on contemporary abstraction.
