Artist Bioraphy:
J.B. Hirsch was a prominent American artist and designer known for his exceptional contributions to the decorative arts during the early 20th century. Based in New York City, Hirsch founded the J.B. Hirsch Company in the 1920s, which specialized in creating exquisite bronze and ivory sculptures, often inspired by Art Deco and Art Nouveau aesthetics. His works, celebrated for their intricate detail and elegant forms, frequently incorporated themes of nature, mythology, and human figures, blending traditional craftsmanship with modernist influences. Hirsch's sculptures became highly sought after for their beauty and refinement, earning him a lasting legacy in the world of decorative art and design.
Henri Fugère (1872–1944) was a distinguished French sculptor and medalist renowned for his mastery of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Born in Châtellerault, France, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under the tutelage of Alexandre Falguière and Gabriel-Jules Thomas. Fugère specialized in creating elegant sculptures of women, often capturing their beauty and grace in materials like bronze and ivory, occasionally accented with colorful patinas. His works reflected themes of femininity, nature, and allegory, making them highly sought after by collectors. Fugère exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon, earning critical acclaim for his artistry, and left a lasting impact on decorative arts during the early 20th century.
