- Lot Description
1960s Yrjo Kukkapuro "Saturn" Lounge Chair. This item comes in black leather. Molded plastic, fiberglass and leather "Saturn" lounge chair by Yrjo Kukkapuro for Haimi and Turner Ltd., Finland, circa 1966. These where shipped over from Finland in the 1970's. Born in Viipuri in 1933, Yrjö Kukkapuro is one of the internationally most prestigious and successful Finnish designers. He graduated as interior architect from the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki in 1958, and founded his own design office, Studio Kukkapuro, in 1959. A renowned award-winning designer, Kukkapuro worked as a teacher, professor and rector from the 1960s to the 1990s. Dimensions: 29 x 31.5 x 34 in. Condition: Wear consistent with age and use.
