- Lot Description
Chinese Large Yellow Glazed Bowl. Well potted with deep rounded sides rising to a flared rim, the exterior incised with a striding dragons in pursuit of a flying phoenix amidst cloud scrolls above a band of lappet at the foot, the interior with a medallion enclosing lotus sprigs, applied overall with an egg-yolk yellow glaze, base inscribed with a six-character reign mark in under-glaze blue, 15.3 in diameter. Provenance: Property from the estate of Mr. Paul Schmaltz, Maryland, purchased from T.Y. King, Hong Kong. Accompanying this lot is the original receipt dated July 16, 1953.
