Joiner’s House is made of finely sanded wood, with a clear finish. The house stands 4 feet and 4 inches tall and is about 8 inches wide. Numerous small birds throughout the world can nest comfortably in this house, protected from the weather and larger predators. The house has excellent ventilation and drainage to promote a moderate and healthy environment and can be opened for cleaning and maintenance.
Douglas Levy was born in New York in 1979. He holds professional degrees in architecture from the Cooper Union in New York and from the University of Florida, where he focused on sustainable design and ecology. His wood sculpture work has been recognized by an award from the American Institute of Architects, Florida Chapter. Douglas currently lives and works in New York City as an architect and consultant for large buildings, including the new World Trade Center complex and National 9/11 Memorial Museum.
