This open-source parametric structure was designed using simple 3D CAD software. It can be easily scaled or modified to accommodate different-sized cavity-dwelling birds (the actual model is based on western bluebird specifications). Features include an open-frame structure providing ventilation, protection, and greater outside visibility for its residents. The design can be laser-cut and flat-packed for ease of production, replication, and distribution. Assembly is simple and requires only a single piece of twine. The design is offered open-source to be used for "citizen science," to be replicated, modified, tested, and improved upon by the greater design community.
