The issue that interested me in making this piece for NEST was resolving the tensions between geometric ideas, the materials at hand, and the idea of "birdhouse." To put it another way, I wanted to avoid sentimental associations and create a serious object, which might actually become a nesting place for birds.
Bruce Warren Davis is an architect, designer, and artist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born in Chicago in 1947, he arrived in the Southwest in 1972 and founded a practice in sustainable architecture in 1975. Focusing on residential design, he has built over two hundred projects in the mountain West. He has been showing photography and installation work in numerous group and solo exhibitions since 2012.
