Mysteriously one spring morning, on the edge of a sylvan forest glade, Space Bat materialized in the branches of a tree. A house wren, attracted by its shimmering presence, explored the intimate spherical space and decided to make it the home for his future family. He wisely realized that the playful yet ominous galactic aura would give any would-be predator second thoughts and instinctively knew, after successfully consummating the mating ritual with his intended, the tiny womb-like void would provide just the right setting for the expected six or seven miniature eggs. He knew it would provide as well an echo chamber for his lilting territorial song, the chirping of the chicks, and the incessant scolding of intruders by his ever watchful beloved. We know that ultimately—as is the nature of the house wren—the Jenny would "rule the roost,” while the male, a comparative dullard, would be in charge of posturing and clumsy feeding assistance. But our house wren obviously has great taste in habitat.
