Pájaro Paraíso
Redwood, lathe/stucco, birch ply interior, quartz
21 x 9 x 9 inches
Pájaro Paraíso is a classic Bird Paradise. The torreón is iconic architecture of New Mexico, serving both as a defense and as a sanctuary. It is cozy, designed with the comfort of the bird in mind. Construction features an all-wooden interior, an air space, and a solid masonry lathe/plaster exterior wall for year-round comfort and durability. And it is spacious, with two living quarters lit naturally. The turrets double as a bird feeder. Meanwhile, a special surprise is awaiting visitors inside!
Andrew Stone graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and practiced solar adobe design/build for a decade before studying computer science and founding stone.com, where he wrote software for the NeXT, the Mac and the iPhone, including Twittelator, the iPhone client who helped launch Twitter into the mainstream in 2008. He teaches iOS programming, hosts a weekly meeting, Cocoa Conspiracy, to offer design and coding assistance to app makers, and enjoys gardening, woodworking, and deconstructing the myths we tell each other.
