Oil on canvas painting titled "Un Gitano (A Gypsy)" depicting a portrait of a man leaning against a wall, his arm propped up on a jug. Signed and inscribed "Granada" along the lower left above the jug. With a paper from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Arts in Rome (Camara de Comercio y Artes de Espana en Roma) affixed along the verso.
Though he was initially pressured to enter the world of commerce by his father, Ramon Tusquets turned to his real passion, painting, after the death of his father. He studied with a local artist named Ramon Moline before studying at the Chigi Academy. He trained and was active in Naples for many years where he began painting works with an "Orientalist" theme as well as being influenced by the works of Domenico Morelli and other Neapolitan painters like the Group of Portici.

The painting is in good condition overall. The colors are bold and bright and there are no major tears, losses, or restorations. The canvas is slightly loose on the stretcher and there are a few areas of undulation to the canvas, mostly along the corners. There are several areas with craquelure, most notably along the areas of thicker paint along the figure. There is a thick varnish throughout. Just above the right shoulder of the figure there is a small puncture that has been patched along the verso. There are spits to the stretcher along each key, see lot listing. There is an old paper affixed to the verso, see lot listing. There is wear to the frame. One loss to the lower left corner. Several losses along the extreme edges. Wear and loss to the gilding. Along the back of the frame there are a few areas with a network of minute holes.
